Looks fair, feels foul.

Kathi, one of my mentors, always draws my attention to this. What looks fair, good, and like a win, often isn’t.

It looks good from the outside but on the inside, it feels wrong somehow.

When deciding your direction there may be opportunities that look fair, that look like the right choice and the very well may be, but not for you and not right now. Just because the rest of the world thinks it is a good idea, does not mean that is the right one for you and necessary for you at this point in your life and career.

So, feel underneath the surface, look underneath the table, and feel if it still feels fair.

Get skin in the game.
