Things happen to us. We make things happen to us. Whatever happens to us, there is always a lesson. A friend of mine told me at the start of the year, before we moved to Cape Town, that this lesson is always the same.
Which makes life less complicated.
The lesson is always:
Let it go.
Simple, right? Why? Holding onto something that is past hinders us from experiencing the now, the current moment. The ideal life is one of complete presence, experiencing life first hand, unfiltered by past experiences, good or bad.
You fell in love. Let it go.
Your best friend left you. Let it go.
Your startup is a monstrous success. Let it go.
Your business failed. Let it go.
You created your best work today. Let it go.
The lesson is always, let it go.
I am a flâneur, which basically means I spend a lot of time in coffee shops watching the world go by.
