These are a few of my favorite things
Here are three things I noticed this week on my wanderings, I hope you enjoy them.
Have a good weekend!
1. The Beauty of Flying robots
I'm a sucker for beauty. So this TED talk blew me away, you have to watch to the end though. Autonomous systems expert Raffaello D'Andrea develops flying machines, and his latest projects are pushing the boundaries of autonomous flight — from a flying wing that can hover and recover from disturbance to an eight-propeller craft that's ambivalent to orientation ... to a swarm of tiny coordinated micro-quadcopters (the pretty part of the talk).
I can hear you say, cute, but what about Africa? The world's first Drone Airport is being built in Uganda, so there you go.
2. Unlearn Afrika
Brian Sbusiso Mokhachane creates Unlearn Afrika. his brand of backpacks are pretty damn awesome. They are made from recycled material, cotton dust is mixed with fabric cutoffs for the more intricate pieces of the backpack, and the larger areas are made from sections of traditional Sotho blanket.

3. No Selfie Zones
Because people need to be told everything, like don't take a selfie in front of an oncoming train, Mumbai has established 16 no-selfie zones in an effort to curb a spike in selfie-related incidents. These are areas that the police consider to be dangerous, like cliffs with no railings (who knew?). For entering a no selfie zone you will get fine 1200 Rupees (R275.00). India accounts for 19 of the 49 selfie-related deaths recorded around the world since 2014, including two recent fatalities.
