Hi everyone, here is this week's three things: a utopian state, an updated toys, and a superhero.
1. School of Life
The School of Life is devoted to developing emotional intelligence through the help of culture. They address such issues as how to find fulfilling work, how to master the art of relationships, how to understand one’s past, how to achieve calm and how better to understand, and where necessary change, the world.
They do fantastic short video clips on YouTube, the one below, The Perfect Country, is a particular philosopher's utopia. Dreaming up utopias help us better understand our current challenges?
What would the perfect South Africa look like, how would it work?
2. Viewmaster VR
By all indications 2016's nr 1 tech trend will be VR (Virtual Reality), with the first headsets having already hit the retail market. Who beter than Viewmaster, the ORIGINAL VR people (remember those circle slides you used to slide in your little red viewmaster then tilting your head to the sky to see the 3D images) to join the VR run. Which is a lesson in itself, don't let tech innovation in your industry pass you by... (hmm Kodak).
View-Master lets you enter the world of virtual reality, surrounding you with stunning 360-degree environments so you feel as if you are really there. Simply slide your smartphone into the viewer, download one of the free View-Master apps, and explore the virtual world around you. watch the video below.
Deadpool is starting this weekend and it's a superhero movie like no other, thanks to Ryan Reynolds' perfect sarcastic portrayal of the character. He break the so called fourth wall in the film, almost constantly chatting to the audience.
If you want to understand a culture, you have to understand their hero's and more importantly, the WHY? Why will people love Deadpool? That is the question.
This is by me, Pierre, each week I post three things that grabbed my attention, and that I like. You can also sign up for the newsletter version here
